Ralphi Rosario

Ralphi Rosario is a pioneering force in house music, originating from Chicago’s vibrant scene. As a founding member of the influential Hot Mix 5 on WBMX radio in the early 1980s, he played a pivotal role in bringing house music to mainstream audiences.

His 1987 track “You Used to Hold Me,” featuring Xaviera Gold, became an enduring club classic, cementing his status in dance music history. Beyond his solo work, Rosario formed the production duo Rosabel with DJ Abel Aguilera, earning a Grammy nomination in 2012 for their remix of Rihanna’s “Only Girl (In the World).”

Rosario’s remix portfolio includes work with global artists like Beyoncé, Madonna, Mariah Carey, and Lady Gaga, showcasing his versatility and influence across genres. His contributions to LGBTQ+ nightlife, particularly in Chicago’s Boystown, have been significant, leading to his induction into the Chicago LGBT Hall of Fame in 2021.

Currently, Rosario maintains a residency at Hydrate Nightclub in Chicago, continuing to energize dance floors with his dynamic sets. His legacy as a DJ, producer, and remixer remains influential in the evolution of house music.
